UNFINISHED BUSINESS

DNR/Water Quality:  Goodlad presented the DNR grant resolution for water quality testing.  The initial plan is for $400,000.00 to cover a two-year span.  Approximately 50% of the expenses are to be covered by the Corps of Engineers, and approximately 50% by the DNR.  The Lake District’s expense would be between $15,000-$30,000 over this two year period.  This plan would study the water quality coming into Cedar Lake from Horse Creek as well as the lake water itself.  If approved, the study would begin in 2007.  Hayes moved to approve the grant request titled Lake Protection and Sample Resolution, seconded by Goodlad, and carried.

Compressor:  The compressor has been rebuilt, and Hayes volunteered to travel to Pewaukee, Wisconsin and trailer it back.

Public Boat Landing:  Brad Johnson reported on the ice damage to the boat ramp on the north end of the lake.  The ice has pushed the concrete ramp above the initial roadway.  A Spooner DNR official suggested cutting off the protruding concrete and installing gravel to level the area.  The Board suggested trying to push the ramp back into place using the township grader.  Goodland and Brad Johnson are to work on a solution.

NEW BUSINESS

Fish Regulations:  Demulling submitted the proposed 14” to 18” slot size on walleyes for Cedar Lake at the St. Croix County Spring Hearings on April 10, 2006 in New Richmond on behalf of the lake district.  The resolution was passed by a 50-6 vote.

Buoy Installation:  Goodlad, Flom, and Demulling with the help of Kent Reebeck and Merlin Green installed the slow no wake and rock buoys on April 22nd.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, May 22, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at the Star Prairie Community Center.
