County trail to the Polk County trail while using Cedar Lake as a connecting
point. The clubs have been working with
John and Joan Wright in securing access to the lake using their road which
borders the bay. The Board thanked the
group for their input. No action was
taken by the Board.
OLD BUSINESS:
Aeration Report: Demulling reported the aerator was shut down
on September 20th. On
October 23rd
all of the filters (4) were replaced and the intake water was drained from the
compressor. The aerator was started on
May 8, 2008.
Dam Report: Stuart Nelson and Dick Hoppe reported that
new decking has been installed on the dam.
The log book records 156 days of elevation reading. The stop logs will be pulled about November 1st
with winter water levels to be reached by November 15th. Discussion was held regarding the concrete
dam structure.
Buoys: Demulling, along with the help of Doug and
Sandy Flom, removed the twelve buoys on October 11th. The buoys are stored on the aeration house
property. Buoys were installed
May 10, 2008.
Lake Study Grant: Goodlad contacted Buzz Sorge from the DNR,
and he stated that there are plans to install 12 sensors and monitoring
stations in the lake. These will be
monitored twice a week. We will also
reapply for the Federal and State grants.
NEW BUSINESS:
Fish Cribs: Marty Engle stated that the shallow water
aquatic plants have basically vanished from Cedar Lake and the fish cribs mimic
a weed bed. These are placed in colonies
in different locations. The Lake
District’s permit is good until 2010.
There are 178 cribs currently located in five different locations. 500 cribs is still the final goal. The focus for this winter’s cribs will
probably be on the northeast and east side of the lake.
The next meeting will be January 26, 2008 at the Star Prairie Community Center at 7:00 p.m.
Demulling moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Wood, and carried. Meeting was adjourned at 9:06 p.m.
