Star Prairie Fish and Game

This conservation minded organization is continuing its efforts to improve water quality and the surrounding shoreline of Cedar Lake.  Through valued partnerships with the lake district, Star Prairie Land Preservation Trust, and the Wisconsin DNR, we are making strong progress.  Our organization has provided donated labor and financial support for lake projects that includes storm damaged tree removal, diseased carp removal, carp retention structure on Cedar Creek, and will continue supporting the efforts of Star Prairie Land Preservation Trust with obtaining and implementing its DNR Lake Protection Grant request.  Our current efforts are temporarily visible on the lake ice, with the building of 40 fish cribs, which will triple the number currently in place.  Future endeavors include constructing 40 additional fish cribs, renovating the Walleye spawning bed on Horse Creek, and construction and placement of Loon nesting platforms and additional Wood Duck houses.

Besides our efforts on Cedar Lake, the club will be putting the finishing touches on our handicap accessible River Island Park, provide senior citizen pontoon rides on the lake, provide 25 handicapped individuals with the opportunity to pheasant hunt, sponsor a $1,000 scholarship for a conservation related college student, and sponsor local youth for conservation camp and fishing experience.  We have also budgeted $10,000 for wildlife habitat and food plots and $3,000 for stocking trout in the Apple River.  If you would like any further information on our organization, our website is www.fishandgame.starprairie.org and our mailing address is:
