CEDAR LAKE PROTECTION AND REHABILITATION DISTRICT

MEETING MINUTES – MARCH 23, 2009

 

Secretary Demulling called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m., Monday, March 23, 2009 at the Star Prairie Community Center.

 

Members Present:  Don Demulling, Warren Wood, Stuart Nelson, Brad Johnson and Neil Johnson

 

Members Absent:  Dennis Early and Bob Goodlad

 

Wood moved to approve the agenda, seconded by Brad  Johnson, and carried.

 

The February minutes were read by Demulling.  Wood moved to approve the minutes, seconded by Nelson, and carried 

 

Treasurer’s report:  No report given

 

Water Quality Report:  The board approved having Bob Norlander on 213th Avenue, Jim Heyer who resides next to Horse Lake, and Stuart Nelson take the daily rainfall measurements in their areas for the study.  Demulling moved to purchase 3 remote rainfall gauges for these areas, seconded by Brad Johnson, and carried.  Neil Johnson moved to approve the DNR purchase of a weather station for the dam in the approximate amount of $2,800.00 to be paid by the Lake District, seconded by Wood, and carried.  The open forum meeting regarding the water quality study is scheduled for April 11th with April 18th being the alternate date.  The meeting is scheduled for

9:00 a.m. until noon.

 

Aquatic Invasive Species:  The January 2009 minutes stated that the 3 year Aquatic Invasive Species program would cost $11,400.00.  A correction to the minutes should read that the 3 year program would cost $3,888.00 total in cash, in kind labor, or a combination of the two.  Wood moved to amend the January 2009 minutes to read as above, seconded by Nelson, and carried.

 

Newsletter:  Wood moved to move the location of the August 1, 2009 Lake District Annual Meeting, as well as future annual meetings, to the Village of Star Prairie Community Center, seconded by Demulling, and carried.

A map of the community center will be included in the newsletter.

 

Buoy Installation:  Demulling stated that the no wake and rock hazard buoys will be installed after the ice is off the lake.

 

Website Update:  Wood moved that the website manager include the names and positions of the Lake District Board Members on the website and exclude all other information and also not have a secure sight for sensitive information, seconded by Brad Johnson, and carried.

 

The next meeting will be April 27, 2009 at the Star Prairie Community Center at 7:00 p.m.

                                   

Neil Johnson moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Wood, and carried.
